The fact that 24% of Connecticut’s waste stream consists of food waste, and 13% of our population is suffering from food insecurity, just does not reconcile. Tons of healthy, safe food is tossed every day when it can be sourced and supplied to those in need. Supermarkets want to do more, and organizations want to supplement their efforts, so this task force will attempt to bridge that gap by putting some formality around the supermarket donation effort.
